BIOGRAPHY

Through international travel, Sabina has experienced a wide variety of cultures that have inspired her fine art painting and printmaking, all of which embody intriguing cross-cultural artistic motifs and evocative images drawn from nature.

Sabina attended Camosun College in Victoria, British Columbia, where she specialized in printmaking with Ian Thomas, and painting and animation with Ralph Stanbridge.  After working at Camosun College she was awarded a scholarship to study traditional Japanese woodblock printmaking with Noboru Sawai.  In 1989, she won a Canada Council Grant to make a short film, integrating digital and traditional animation techniques.

Printmaking allows Sabina to experiment with different ideas and techniques.  She arrives at her subject matter through a creative process, integrating a variety of artistic skills including: traditional etching, photo gravure, lino and woodcut, multiple plate reduction and divided block prints.  Each limited edition print is unique, numbered and authenticated by Sabina.

Continuing to work independently from her home-based Fine Art Studio in Shawnigan Lake British Columbia, her fine art communicates a unique resonance that awakens soulful emotion, feeling and thought - a visual expression of the creative dynamic inter-relationship between the natural and man-made worlds; offering a range of perspectives that challenge our understanding of Nature, Self and Community.

Sabina exhibits her art on a regular basis at various art galleries in Victoria and Vancouver.
